Landmark Victory for Better Dental Benefits

Tuesday, Nov 8th, Massachusetts voters overwhelmingly approved ballot Question 2, delivering first-in-the-nation dental insurance reform that will assure patient dollars are spent on patient care. The passage of question 2 will protect consumers from large increases in dental insurance premiums, and provide increased transparency of and accountability for dental insurer spending.

Thank you to all of the individuals and organizations who contributed to help make this a successful step to reform dental insurance. The entire dental community has rallied in support of ballot question 2, and the voters have decided — we have succeeded on behalf of our patients.

Dental insurance has long been an area of frustration for patients and dentists nationwide. This victory has set the stage for meaningful change in the commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond. The ADA is proud to help Massachusetts Dental Society deliver this victory and will be ready to help other states educate lawmakers to move quickly to pass similar legislation in their upcoming legislative sessions.
