Fluoride: What Evidence Shows, What Policies Allow - webinar

  • Thu, Mar 28, 2024 | 12:00 PM - Thu, Mar 28, 2024 | 1:00 PM
  • Contact: Kelli Broyles
  • Email: kelli.broyles@dhw.idaho.gov
  • How to find us: Online - https://idhw.webex.com/idhw/j.php?MTID=md74d02700ed1ce46f9f5251ed2d2d78c

Do you, your patients, and your communities know the latest information about the
benefits, safety, and modes of fluoride? New reports, research, policies, and guidelines
are released each year about fluoride.

These developments will be summarized in a webinar on Thursday, March 28th from noon to 1 pm MT. LINK HERE: https://idhw.webex.com/idhw/j.php?MTID=md74d02700ed1ce46f9f5251ed2d2d78c

This free webinar will be conducted by the American Fluoridation Society and hosted by
the Idaho Oral Health Program. Dental and medical professionals, public health staff,
community health workers and other health/family advocates are encouraged to register
now. Continuing education credits are available.

Meet the American Fluoridation Society’s co-presenters:
Johnny Johnson, DMD, MS, is a pediatric dentist from Pinellas County,
Florida. He is the co-founder and president of the American Fluoridation
Society. Dr. Johnson has delivered presentations, training, and testimony
about fluoride in many states, and in Canada and the United Kingdom. His
leadership role in fluoridation advocacy began after his county commission
voted to end fluoridation — a decision that was successfully reversed by a
coalition of residents that Dr. Johnson helped to organize. In 2022, the Chief
Dental Officer of the U.S. Public Health Service issued an honorary citation
to Dr. Johnson for “promoting, protecting and advancing the health and safety of the nation.” In 2017, he received the DentaQuest “Health Equity Hero” award. He received his dental training from the University of Florida, and he earned his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and master’s of science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Kathy Hunt, RDH, ECPII, a registered dental hygienist for over 40 years, has
worked in public health since 2004 when she designed the first system in
Kansas that provided preventive dental care in schools, Head Starts, and
health departments. She was also instrumental in starting a dental safety net
clinic in her local community. She has co-authored several oral health
resource materials focused on families with young children as well as
designing the fluoridation plans for the states of Mississippi and Idaho.
