Course description: Dental implant restorations can be incredibly effective at replacing missing teeth, and there is an ever-growing body of literature and clinical experience that helps our profession understand how and when to employ them in restoring our patients. Occasionally however, dental marketing, patient education, and clinical decision making can perpetuate myths about dental implants that don't reflect reality. This presentation reviews some common dental implant myths and their respective truths.
Course objectives:
- Learn common implant myths that are perpetuated and be able to discuss what truths may underlie them
- Learn how to not perpetuate these myths with patients, instead providing them a more accurate understanding of what is (and isn't) known about treatment with implants.
