The ISDA offers many continuing education opportunities for dental professional throughout the year. Due to COVID-19 and state mandates many 2020 events have been cancelled or moved. We will be sure to keep you up to date on these changes.
Online Meeting Registration
In the meantime, the ADA offers many online opportunities for Continuing Education as needed. There are no limits on the credits that are obtained online. See what they have to offer!
ADA Online Courses
The CE Requirements for re-licensure are 30 hours, 1 of which needs to be related to safe prescribing of Opioids. There is no requirement related to the number of hours that must be in person learning vs. on-line, so all requirements can be met using on-line CE.
The opioid prescribing requirement applies to all dentists, regardless of specialty or whether or not you prescribe opioids. Those who attended the Harold Crossly classes or Ryan Hampton’s class at the 2019 ISDA Annual Session have met the opioid requirement.
ADA offers a free online class that also meets the Opioid prescribing requirement, which is available through their collaboration with the Providers’ Clinical Support System at pcssNOW.org

**IMPORTANT** in order to obtain a certificate for this course the ADA has instructed that you will need to create an account on pcssnow.org
(this should be free as well). Once an account is created and the course is watched, pcssnow.org should give you access to a certificate. Be sure to contact us should you need further guidance.
Safe and Responsible Prescribing of Opioid Analgesics
After this course, you will be able to:
$58 (member price)
2 CERP Credit
This will fulfill Opioid CE requirement for relicensing (verified with the Board of Dentistry). 1 CE related to Opioid Prescribing in each renewal period is required. So if you haven’t done it yet this is a great option for license expiring at the end of September.
- Develop a rationale for combining two peripherally acting analgesics (acetaminophen, ibuprofen)
- Incorporate regulations and guidelines regarding opioid use for managing acute pain
- Discuss recommendations for safe, responsible use of prescription opioid analgesics
