Changes to the ISDA's Legislative Approach
Each survey in recent history has indicated that ISDA members value our advocacy work above all other member benefits. Indeed, our esteemed association is responsible for preserving the profession as it exists today. Our efforts are integral to ensuring that patients have access to care. We are excited to announce that we're trying a new way to engage in legislative advocacy in the coming year.
In an effort to enhance our presence and influence at the state level, ISDA is transitioning away from our traditional Legislative Dinners, which have historically been held across the state. In their place, we are launching an impactful and centralized advocacy event, ISDA Legislative Day, taking place February 19–20 at the Idaho State Capitol.
This new format provides several strategic advantages:
Direct Access to Legislators: Members and their staff will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one or in small groups with their legislators, ensuring our key priorities are communicated clearly and effectively.
Stronger Visibility: ISDA will maintain a visible and consistent presence at the Capitol throughout both days, reinforcing our role as a leading voice in the dental industry.
Networking and Relationship-Building: An evening reception on Thursday, February 19, will bring together ISDA members and state legislators in a relaxed and informal setting, creating opportunities for meaningful connections.
Unified Messaging: By consolidating our efforts into a single statewide event, we can deliver a more cohesive and powerful message, rather than through varied regional events.
To support this transition, ISDA will provide materials for each component society to utilize during their Fall meetings. These resources will promote ISDA Legislative Day and serve as a means to gather local feedback on the pressing issues and concerns facing our members. Your input will be invaluable in shaping our legislative strategy, in close collaboration with our Legislative Advisors.
Understanding the challenges posed by geography and time constraints, we are also exploring virtual meeting options with legislators. This will offer an additional, meaningful way for members to participate in advocacy efforts and ensure broad engagement across the state.
This new approach represents a bold step forward and reflects our continued commitment to proactively advocating for our members and the dental profession in Idaho.
Your support and involvement will be key to the success of ISDA Legislative Day. Together, we can make a powerful impression and ensure our collective voice is heard where it matters most.
We welcome your thoughts, questions, and suggestions as we move forward with this exciting new direction.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to engage with their local legislators. Please contact the ISDA office if you'd like more information.
