ELSA Passes the House this Week

The ADA and other dental groups have been advocating for the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act (ELSA) to require all private group and individual health plans to cover medically necessary services resulting from a congenital anomaly or birth defect. This week, as a result of these efforts, ELSA passed the House of Representatives on April 4. ELSA would require all private group and individual health plans to cover medically necessary services including inpatient and outpatient care and reconstructive services and procedures, as well as adjunctive dental, orthodontic, or prosthodontic support. Additional grassroots efforts will continue this year to urge the U.S. Senate to hold a vote and get this legislation signed into law. Visit ADA.org/Advocacy for more information
